A garment has a long itinerary.
Environmental and social impacts are distributed across a garment’s life: raw material extraction, fibre processing, fabric finishing, manufacture, transport, use, resale and end-of-life. No single number captures every garment, place or supply chain.
Use changes the equation.
Wearing a garment more often can spread the impacts of making it across more uses. That makes fit, care instructions, repairability and personal attachment meaningful design features—not afterthoughts.
Avoid the easy story.
“Natural” and “synthetic” are not complete environmental verdicts. Different fibres come with different land, water, chemical, fossil-resource, shedding and recovery challenges. Evidence works best when it stays specific about place, material and intended use.
